One of gold’s characteristics is that it can be melted down infinite times without degrading or losing its beauty. This is why we believe that it’s not always necessary to extract new gold.
Especially if you have old jewelry that you don’t wear and that’s sitting in a drawer.
What is recycled gold?
Introducing the Second Life Project
We’ve decided to give value to old gold and promote the circular economy. We melt down and recover gold from old jewelry that has been sitting in a drawer for years. This way, we can create a personalized design using jewelry pieces that have sentimental value but that you probably would never have worn.
How does it work?
We evaluate the jewelry to be used together, and once melted, the gold is cleaned of all impurities and returned to its original state through the refining system.
This produces 24-karat gold, which is pure gold. By mixing this pure gold with other metals, such as copper, silver, or palladium, we create the gold used in jewelry-making – 18k gold – and the various colorations including white, yellow, and rose.
Once ready, the gold is hand-worked by our goldsmiths in the Florence Atelier to create your custom jewelry piece.
